Hello, my name is Alex Grimes. I’m a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and music teacher. Originally from Charlotte, I earned a BMus from Columbia College Chicago in 2012 and a MA in Music Composition from the University of Huddersfield in the UK in 2015. In summer 2023, I moved from Chicago to Riverside in Cramerton with my family where I am currently building a home studio. Comfortable teaching all levels of musicianship - I’ve lectured at universities and schools in the UK and in the US but love teaching beginners. For the last five years I taught music at the high school level in Chicago. I’m proud to have many former students go on to professional careers in the industry.
